The Sea to Sky Gondola, located in Squamish, BC, is a thrilling scenic ride. You will see mountains, the coastal forest, and Howe Sound. Each gondola holds 8 people, and Swiss and Austrian manufacturers make the gondolas. During the ride up and down the mountain, you will see Shannon Falls and the well-known climbing trails. At the top, there are hiking and walking trails and rock climbing.
The Suspension Bridge, Walking and Hiking Trails
The Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge gives you a 360-degree view of the mountains and Howe Sound. It is open all years and is 100 meters long. Several nature trails are easy to walk on. They are designed for adults, children, and seniors. The Spirit Trail is designed for summer and winter hiking. Visitors will cross the Sky Pilot Bridge one way and enter a spirit viewing area to see the sound and Goat Ridge. It takes about 30 minutes to complete this walk.
The Panorama Trails takes 30 to 60 minutes to walk. Many parts of the trail are one way only. The view platform allows only one person at a time. On this trail, visitors will see the coastal forest, blueberry bushes, and breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains. It is an easy trail to walk along.
The Wonderland Loop Trail goes by the lake and takes 60 minutes to complete. This trail is more complicated than the other two. Many sections of this trail are one way. This trail takes you through the forest, by rock bluffs, meadows, and Wonderland Lake. Visitors get to see many native plants on this hike. Alpine Valley is for kids and their families with a scavenger card and prize at the end of the walk. For more advanced hikers, they have Sparky”s Spin and Highline Trail.
Dining and Shopping
Sea to Sky Gondola offers several restaurants to dine at. They have the Sky Pilot Restaurant, Co-Pilot Cafe, and Bodhi’s Smokehouse. Social distancing is practiced, and limited seating is available inside and outside. They have a retail store with toys, clothing, jewelry, art, books, games and more.
