There is nothing like sports to bring a group of people together. Usually, moments of glory from celebrating a championship is the accomplice. Few athletes can excel at a high level in a sport. Often, their actions have inspired a nation.

The passion for sports is cultivated through each generation by word of mouth. They share Canada’s rich sports history that showcases our country’s champions. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame celebrates these athletes’ legacy, industry builders, and famous sporting events through various exhibits. Visitors rave about how the building emits the pride of being a Canadian sports athlete in the various artifacts on display.

Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is one of the oldest sports museums in North America. Its goal is to preserve the country’s athletic culture and educate fellow Canadians on the importance of sports. The hope is to continue the growth of sports in Canada.

Since its inception in 1955, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame has inducted 679 athletes and industry builders. Some of the most famous inductees include hockey’s Wayne Gretzky and baseball’s Ferguson Jenkins. The hope is to continue focusing on recognizing the country’s greatest sports heroes. They exhibit skill and leadership and allow us to re-live some grand moments in our own lives.

Historically, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame has been housed in various locations throughout Toronto before finding a permanent home in Calgary. It’s located on the west side of town inside the famed Olympic Park village. The 4,100 square foot space opened its doors in 2011.

The main hall can hold over 100,00 historical sports artifacts in multiple display areas. Plus, guests can interact with several entertaining exhibits that put the viewer in the field of play. Many have loved the mixture of innovation and design offered in this new form of digital storytelling. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame provides a memorable sports experience.
